The aesthetic style that I am drawn to and aspire to becomes pretty clear; DO AN ANALYSIS TO PIN POINT EXACTLY HOW IT CAN BE ACHIEVED!

Reminiscent of Twin Peaks through the distorted alien voices that add a level of menace and weird to the scene .
Image quality!!!
Live animals add dynamic quality to a scene by making it 'other', unusual and elevating it further from the 'casual everyday' in doing so they add a mark of quality, unpredictability and trigger a fascination or disgust in the viewer.

I'd be very interested in using big snails!
Plot narrative that tells a consecutive story through strong location and (limited) acting/action in the scene
Image film vs. fashion film
The video relies on very strong visuals - almost more like a set of photographs in motion that connect because of the visual qualities and strong similarities between them.

There is no plot or storyline only very strong visual and spatial correlation!
Here there is a very strong storyline - almost like a movie without words
Inspired the retirement home dream in me!

The atmosphere and interplay of colours and textures to create one homogenous entity.
The room

The authentic and eclectic people

The simple yet effective development from showing individual people unmoved in the room to starting to dance

This cross-over between cinematic consecutive action and pure mood/image/atmosphere might be what works best for fashion film? To have a concept but no real build of action?

Twin peaks
_ The chapters that cut all footage into part of a pre-described storyline.

_Casting is super important, the main characters/model that Phillipa frequently uses really works ( creating an Uma Thurman Kill Bill feeling) but the second characters (especially the girl with whom she was probably going for a 'Lana Del Rey - southern Bell - effect)don't

_the sound is very catchy and underlines the action (e.g. peng for gun)- adding the comical or exaggerated flavour of a fashion film

_ the audio narrative sound-bits help tell the story
The storyline is on the one hand set into chapters but the action in those chapters is very loose and partially difficult to make sense of - the question remains: is this intentional?

> In Visual Culture at AMFI we learned to create films that have a very cinematic build, a plot, a beginning and an end - something very unusual for fashion film. Is it because it is short and highly stylised that it works ?
The outfits inspired the story and now they are in perfect harmony with their setting.
I'm very drawn to videos that show 'the spectacle of looking'
Choreographed movements for fashion
